What is CDAP?

CDAP Stands for Canada Digital Adoption Program. The Canada Digital Adoption Plan (CDAP) is a government initiative to help Canadian businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), adopt digital technologies and improve their competitiveness in the digital economy. The CDAP was announced in 2019 as part of the government’s Innovation and Skills Plan, and it includes a range of initiatives and funding programs to support the adoption of digital technologies by SMEs. CDAP Technology Grants

Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), that are eligible, can apply for a $15,000. Grant that will cover 90% of the costs to create a Digital Adoption Plan tailored to your specific business needs. This may include e-commerce, digital marketing, technology to improve operations efficiency, productivity and most importantly profitability.

How It Works

Businesses may create an account on the Government of Canada’s CDAP website to confirm eligibility.

1. Eligibility confirmation

Once eligibility is confirmed, you will be asked to choose an Approved CDAP Advisor from the drop-down menu.

2. Grant application

You will then work with your Advisor to create your personalized Digital Adoption Plan.

3. CDAP Plan Approval Process

Once your plan is ready you will submit it to the CDAP website for approval.

4. Government Grant Approval

When the Government approves your personalized plan, you will receive your grant.

After planning submission and government approval, you will receive the grant funding.

Is the Canada Digital Adoption Program Right for You?

The Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) has been established to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) realize their full potential by adopting digital technologies.

Announced in Budget 2021, the $4 billion program is an investment of $1.4 billion in grants and advisory services to SMEs from the Government of Canada and up to $2.6 billion in loans from the Business Development Bank of Canada to help businesses cover the costs of implementing new digital technologies.

There are two separate streams available:

Stream 1- Grow Your Business Online

Every day more and more consumers are moving on-line to purchase their goods and services. It is essential that Canadian Businesses develop an on-line e-commerce presence to accommodate this shift, or they will get left behind.

Fund Amount

Apply for a micro-grant of up to $2400. to help you get on-line and reach your customers with e-commerce so they can purchase from you no matter where they are.

What do you need to be a Qualified Applicant for Stream 1?

  • You have a for-profit business.
  • You are a registered or incorporated Canadian business.
  • You deal directly with consumers.
  • You have at least one full or part time employee for at least three months prior to the application (not including the owner) OR you had at least $30,000. in annual revenue in the most recent tax year. (2021)
  • You must commit to maintaining your digital adoption strategy for at least six months after receiving the grant.
  • You must consent to participate in follow-up surveys, sharing information with the Government of Canada (ISED and Statistics Canada).
  • You must consent to having the name of your business published as a recipient of the grant.

Stream 2- Boost Your Business Technology

The Boost Your Business Technology grant will provide your business with up to $15,000 to pay for a detailed digital plan specifically designed for your business by an Approved CDAP Advisor. There is also a grant of $7300. wage subsidy to pay for a university student or recent grad to assist you with implementing the plan through a work placement.

The Business Development Bank has interest free loans of up to $100,000. available to help your business acquire innovative technologies and processes to bring your business into the digital marketplace, increase your sales, lower your costs and improve your productivity.

Qualified Applicants

  • your business is a federally or provincially registered Canadian owned corporation or a registered Canadian owned sole proprietorship.
  • your business is for profit.
  • your business has between 1-499 employees.
  • your business has had at least $500,000 in annual revenue in 1 of the last 3 years.
